In Tears: Willis Raburu Opens Up About His Daughter’s Tragic Death

Journalist Willis Raburu recently got candid about one of the most challenging times in his life during an appearance on the “Lessons @30″ podcast hosted by Dr. Ofweneke.

Raburu shared the immense pain he felt upon discovering that his newborn daughter Adana would not survive, a moment he describes as profoundly helpless and devastating.

“The most difficult decision for me was when I realized that my daughter could not live anymore. When my daughter died, that was the hardest time for me. I don’t think there is any other pain that can be compared to that,” Raburu confessed, his voice heavy with emotion as he recalled the experience.

Recalling the painful day, he revealed that he received the heartbreaking news about his daughter’s death while still in the hospital.

Ironically, it was December 31, a day when most were celebrating the arrival of the new year.

“It was a very dark time for me, I was still in the hospital. I even have a tattoo here on my arm, it was December 31 when people are waiting for the new year,” he shared.

He detailed the moment leading up to the traumatic news.

“Everything was fine, we went to the doctor and everything was okay, then suddenly we are told that the baby’s heart is not beating. I don’t think there has ever been a time when I felt alone in the dark and in pain like that time,” he added, capturing the surreal shock of that heartbreaking revelation.

During this tumultuous period, Raburu revealed that he struggled with his relationship with God, feeling disconnected and taking an extended break from his faith.

Despite the profound hardships, Raburu has found a way to reconnect with his spirituality, stating that his relationship with God has since returned to what it once was.

At that time, he faced not only emotional pain but also troubles in his marriage to Marya Prude.

The couple tragically lost their daughter at the end of 2019, a loss that strained their relationship, with Marya eventually expressing doubts about her faith in God.

Raburu’s powerful story underscores the depth of grief and the complexities of navigating personal loss.
