DP Rigathi Gachagua spent the first 17 years of his life without wearing any underwear.
Gachagua opened up about not wearing underwear in his early years while speaking to his former schoolmates at his office in Harambee Annex, Nairobi.
He met a handful of friends who schooled with him at Kianyaga High in Kirinyaga.
Gachagua reminisced about his days as a student in Kianyaga, revealing that he wore his first underwear in 1982 while he was in form two.
“My first underwear I bought while in form two,” he said.
Rigathi said that he lacked some basic needs because he came from a poor background. He said things like inner garments were not a priority in their household.
“It was not a priority for my mother to wear an underwear…wewe wacha tulipe school fees kwanza hayo mengine tutapangana mbele,” Gachagua narrated amid laughter from the fellow alumni.
“Some of us wore shoes the first time in Kianyaga…We have a story to tell,” he added.
Gachagua further noted that he owes his success to the school he studied.
“This is a very emotional reunion formula. I am very excited to see you again, I thank you; I am happy for you. Kianyaga is now on the Kenyan map, and we owe gratitude to that institution,” the DP told his former schoolmates.
It was momentous spending 3 good hours at Harambee House Annex with former schoolmates at Kianyaga High School, where my journey to success and leadership began 45 years ago today. We traced our old days at "Kalahari" as the school is still known for being in a hot and dry area. pic.twitter.com/lJo0eCnmAc
