Fred Musoga aka DJ Absolute has opened up about his brush with suicide following the death of DJ Lithium who sadly took his own life at work.
Speaking on Spice FM, DJ Absolute revealed that he was to commit suicide on his mother’s birthday on May 7th.
DJ Absolute said he went to his house with the intention of using a knife to kill himself but something stopped him – he says it was God and his mother’s prayers.
He said that he was so frustrated with life because of financial woes but nobody knew he had suicidal thoughts.
“I wanted to kill myself and I would like to let you know that people who often kill themselves are the happiest. I remember that a day before, I was talking to some of my friends and we were laughing because the story was hilarious. Deep down I knew that I was going to kill myself and I didn’t tell anyone. Everything was going wrong both at work and home and in as much as people thought that I was okay, nothing was okay. On the fateful day, I texted my mom and told her I love you”, he said.
DJ Absolute said he opened up to his family about his attempted suicide and they helped him overcome his challenges.
He received psychiatric treatment that helped him overcome the mental breakdown which had pushed him to have suicidal thoughts.
DJ Absolute called on Kenyans to take their mental health care seriously, stressing that it was the main reason why most people tend to kill themselves.
