Popular Burundian-Kenyan based musician Kidum Kibido has recounted the moment that he was given a second chance to live after suffering a road accident.
Speaking to King Kaka during the second life stories segment, Kidum said that the incident occurred in 2006 and he fell unconscious. When he woke up he found himself in a ‘morgue’.
“In 2006 I rolled with a car. I then woke up in a very cold place. People don’t want to say the truth but I was already dead and came back to life. Where was the cold place? I woke up demanded for my shirt and put it on,” the Nitafanya hitmaker narrated.
“The car rolled, I was pulled out while unconscious. Later I found myself in the cold place, I don’t want to mention the place because it is in the past already,” Kidum added.
The accident occurred in Eastern Burundi near Tanzania. He was in the company of other artists. Kidum said that the accident taught him a lesson and served a turning point in his life.
“From there I knew that, and I also tell people, there is no need to drive on a high speed. I had that character, whether I am going for short distance, I would drive close to 100km per hour for no reason. It happened to me and now I understand. The car was hired, I was forced to pay for the damages,” he told King Kaka.
He further said that he is very cautious on the road and always crosses the road while running.
“I don’t entertain playing with life on the road. If you see me crossing the road, you will think its comedy, I am always running because I don’t know the drivers coming, they might be having bad intentions,” he said.
