Gen Z Goliath Faces Backlash For Comments On Somali Community Amid Eastleigh Protests

Gen Z Goliath Bradley Marongo has come under fire following his controversial comments on Nairobi Gossip Club’s Instagram post about the recent protests in Eastleigh.

Somalis in Eastleigh organized the demonstration after the tragic murders of three women, a mother and her two daughters, whose bodies were found in separate locations around Nairobi.

On Thursday October 24, 2024, Eastleigh was effectively shut down as hundreds of residents flooded the streets to demand justice for Waris Daud, her 25-year-old daughter Amina Abdirashid, and her 12-year-old niece Nuseiba Dahir.

The protests saw Eastleigh’s key roads blocked as locals, alongside area MP Yusuf Hassan, voiced their anger and concern over recent killings targeting their community.

However, Marongo’s comment on the demonstration drew immediate condemnation.

The Gen Z Goliath referred the Somali community as refugees and lamented that they are breeding a lot with the intention of dominating Kenya.

“This refugees na wao wanazaana sana… It seems they want to dominate Kenya,” Bradley wrote.

Marongo’s comment sparked outrage for what many perceived as a deeply insensitive and divisive remark.

His words not only overshadowed the community’s grief but also ignited wider conversations on discrimination and unity, as the Somali community in Kenya remains an integral part of the country’s cultural and economic fabric.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has since launched an in-depth probe, analyzing CCTV footage that may provide vital clues regarding the Eastleigh deaths.
