Alex Mwakideu is among a handful of celebrities who have heavily invested millions in business enterprises in Kitengela town.
The dawn of Covid-19 pandemic in 2020 made Alex Mwakideu become a serial entrepreneur after his employer at Milele FM forced him to take 50% pay cut.
Speaking during an interview on Churchill Show, Mwakideu said that the pay cut forced him to choose between starting a side hustle or changing his family’s lifestyle.
Having already experienced a life of poverty at his younger age, Mwakideu was determined not to let his family live that same life.
The Milele radio presenter first started a car wash business that was highly lucrative and saw an immediate return of the 50% he needed.
Mwakideu started off with a car wash dubbed Pampered Rides Car Wash and later expanded to the eatery business, with plans to expand further.
If you are a resident of Kitengela and its environs, you may have happen to pass by Pampered Village which is located along Acacia Road behind Ola Petrol Station in Kitengela.
Mwakideu’s Pampered Village restaurant specializes in Swahili dishes. The restaurant serves pilau, biriani, mahamri, shawarma, coconut fish, chapatti, arosto among other dishes.
Mwakideu says that his restaurant serves authentic Swahili dishes as he even went to the extent of sourcing a Chef from Mariakani.
Pampered Village will not serve alcoholic beverages and smoking is not allowed as he wants an environment that is family-friendly.
The Milele FM presenter also noted that they only admit up to the capacity the restaurant can hold to avoid overcrowding. The restaurant also offers deliveries around Kitengela and it’s environs.
The third hustle Mwakideu undertook after the 50% salary pay cut (not quite a business per se) was acting.
The Milele FM presenter then took his talent to the big screen with a starring role in a Kenyan movies ‘Nafsi’. He played the role of a husband to Catherine ‘Cate Actress’ Kamau.
To land the role on Nafsi, he had to twice go through painstaking auditions after approaching director Reuben Odanga multiple times looking for a role in any of his film productions.
Mwakideu described his acting gig as a dream to star. He starred in the film alongside acclaimed actors such as Catherine Kamau and Mumbi Maina who starred in 2021 Hollywood blockbuster Matrix Resurrection.
The Milele FM presenter has also built his dream home in Kitengela. On January 31, 2021, Mwakideu and his friend Jalang’o started a reality show dubbed Jenga na Alex Na Jalas that documented the progress of their joint project.
The two announced that the show will be out to document the process of building their dream houses in the outskirts of Nairobi, with the aim of inspiring people who look up to them.
