Mwafreeka Mwaf could have lived a wonderful life in his childhood if his kleptomaniac dad didn’t ruin it all just because of greed.
The former radio presenter-turned-YouTuber opened up about his troubled childhood on his YouTube podcast.
In an episode featuring Abel Mutua on his podcast Iko Nini, Mwafreeka narrated how his father ended up in jail despite having worked a well-paying job.
Mwafreeka said his father was a director of sales and marketing at a well paying company that operated in East Africa region.
He said his dad built trust with top management and that he would often be entrusted with withdrawing large sums of money on behalf of his bosses.
However, Mwafreeka, said that his dad got greedy and decided to steal Ksh3 million from his employers. He had planned to flee to France with the family.
The YouTuber said his dad’s boss used to pre-sign bank cheques and that he would fill in necessary amount needed for operations.
Mwafreeka’s father on the day he planned to steal from his employer wrote a figure of about Sh3 million on a cheque and instructed his family to pack waiting for him to complete the transaction at the bank.
However, things didn’t go as planned as he got very nervous in the bank and the transaction was flagged.
“However, he got nervous when he went to withdraw the money. The bank staff noticed that he was not his usual self because he was acting strange. They decided to confirm the withdrawal with the account holder,” Mwafreeka narrated.
Mwafreeka’s father was arrested after the transaction was flagged. He was later sent to prison after court found him guilty.
Life got tough for Mwafreeka after his father went to prison. When he got out he became an alcoholic.
“The job was well paying, he was getting good money and he didn’t need to steal, unfortunately, he had bigger dreams,” Mwafreeka recalled how his father’s theft ruined his childhood.
