Former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko has once again offered to help veteran boxer Conjestina Achieng’ who is said to be battling mental problems.
This comes a day after it was reported that Conjestina set her house ablaze citing frustrations from family.
Taking to his official twitter account, Mike Sonko said that his team was already in Siaya to airlift Conjestina to Nairobi.
“Our team is in Gem, Yala, Siaya County to airlift former International boxer Conjestina Achieng’ to Nairobi for medical checkup and assess whether she needs to be taken back to rehab,” Sonko’s tweet read.
Conjestina’s boxing career came to an end after she started suffering from depression and mental health issues.
In November 2018, Conjestina was airlifted to Nairobi for treatment and rehabilitation with the help of Sonko and NACADA.
After several months of treatment, her health improved and she even made an appearance at a boxing match in March 2019.
However a year later, Conjestina’s mental problems relapsed, her situation made known to the public after radio personality Carol Radull paid her a visit.
