Tanzanian songstress Zuchu has responded to Eric Omondi’s allegations that Bongo flava is dead.
According to Zuchu, Tanzanians are just diversifying and trying out new sounds since the music industry is big.
Eric had claimed that Amapiano had taken over Bongo flava yet the genre was East Africa’s pride.
“Bongo flava can never die. Artists are going out of their comfort zones. It i called diversity. Trying out new sounds has never killed any industry. The music industry is so big so let artists try out new things ndio mabadiliko hayo,” Zuchu said.

In a quick rejoinder, Eric claimed that that is how Kenyan artists began and got lost.
He told Zuchu that there was no need to leave Bongo flava because of diversity.
“My dear Sister. This is how it always begins, we always start by losing our Authenticity and Identity and giving Excuses for it. Huku Kenya tulianza vivyo hivyo na Muziki wetu ukapotea???. Wazungu wanasema “If it’s not Broken, dont fix it!!”.
“Bongo Fleva iko SAWAA kabisa na Hakuna haja ya kuwacha Bongo Fleva ati Kwa ajili ya ku “Diversify”. Amapiano ni Basi? tu linalopita ila sisi tukiipanda bila kujua kinaenda wapi basi tutashindwa kurudi nyumbani,” Eric said on Insatagram.
The comedian further said that by artists singing other genres, they are promoting other countries culture and killing their own.
“Tutakua tunauza sera zao na Tamaduni zao na Kuua chetu. Unapoimba “Sukari” in that Sweet Authentic Bongo Tone and Beat, what you are basically doing ni Kuinua Taifa na Bendera ya Tanzania ?????? and WE LOVE IT SOO MUCH and we are PROUD of it. Lakini when you Continually replace that Bongo Sound na Amapiano baada ya Mda tutakua tumejipoteza,” Eric said.
