Activist Boniface Mwangi has come to the aid of blogger Edgar Obare following complaints that his brother was kidnapped on Saturday evening.
According to Boniface Mwangi, he was willing to not only find a safe place to seek refuge but also help him deal with such threats towards his life and that of the family.
“I have seen people tagging me on Edgar Obare’s post. I can’t post my solidarity on it since comments are restricted. If Edgar needs assistance, a lawyer, or a safe house, my DM is open. Our country is broken but has a somewhat functional police service and judiciary,” Wrote Boniface Mwangi on his social media page.
As a result, Boniface Mwangi urged Edgar Obare to first report the incident with the police officers to make the complaint official.
“He should go report his complaint officially at a police station. It’s very important. Sending him positive vibes and love. He can DM me and I can advise him what to do,” he added.
Edgar Obare revealed on Sunday morning that his brother had been kidnapped under unclear circumstances after he sent him to pick some parcels at the airport.
“I would like to ask you to pray for my family. Saturday night I was informed that they kidnapped my brother.
They kidnapped him, tortured him, trying to get information about my whereabouts, that’s one of the scariest thing.
I am so sad that he had to go through that, and that some people in this country would go so low and go after my family. I hate this country, how they get away with everything,” Edgar said.
According to the blogger, the assailants had been pursuing his brother for some time since he exposed the wash wash/money laundering business in Kenya.
Obare claimed that the kidnappers wanted the brothers to reveal his whereabouts.
