DP Ruto Says Uhuru Is Big Headed, After Withdrawing His Security

A day after General Service Unit officers guarding his Karen residence was withdrawn, Deputy President William Ruto has come out to hit out at President Uhuru Kenyatta, claiming that he is big-headed.

Speaking during a consultative meeting with grassroots leaders and opinion shapers from Nyeri county, DP Ruto said he is not to blame for the flop of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).

According to Ruto, the BBI did not bring on board the opinions of the majority of Kenyans, including himself.

He noted that he could not have been wrong if the court agreed with his position that the initiative had serious constitutional loopholes.

“How can anybody hold it against me today that I did not support the BBI when I clearly stated my position on matters that are controversial and unconstitutional, yet the court has vindicated me that BBI had constitutional challenges,” said the DP.

Ruto said that if the proponents of the BBI, including President Uhuru, listened to the issues he had raised, the initiative would have gotten support from the board.

He noted that he did his job of advising the president about the shortcomings in the BBI, but all were in vain.

“My responsibility as the deputy president is to advise the president, in accordance with our constitution, as I see it. And I did my duty and informed him of the mistakes in BBI,” the DP said.
