“Doctors Said I Was Lucky To Be Alive” Ex-Harambee Stars Coach Ghost Mulee Opens Up About Shocking Medical Diagnosis

Kenyan media personality and former Harambee Stars coach, Ghost Mulee, recently opened up about an incredible experience that began with a selfless act of love—donating a kidney to his brother in India—that ultimately led to a life-saving revelation about his own health.

In an emotional chat with YouTuber Oga Obinna, Mulee shared how his brother, who sadly passed away in 2021, needed an organ transplant due to cancer.

As a compatible donor, Mulee traveled with his sibling for the medical procedure, showcasing the remarkable bond they shared.

While there, Mulee made a crucial choice to undergo a full health check-up, believing it was wise to keep tabs on his own well-being.

“I went for a whole-body check-up,” he recounted. “They did a sleep test on the Saturday before my Sunday departure.”

The results from this check-up proved life-altering for the seasoned broadcaster.

After consulting with an ENT specialist, he was confronted with alarming news.

“She told me one thing: ‘Thank God you are still alive’,” Mulee recalled, highlighting the severity of an undiagnosed condition that had persisted for far too long.

Unbeknownst to him, Mulee had been grappling with sleep apnea, a serious disorder that causes breathing interruptions during sleep and took a toll on his daily life.

“I used to sleep a lot in the studio,” he confessed, reminiscing about moments when his co-host, Gidi, joked about whether he had finished “praying for the show.”

But the implications of his sleep apnea were far graver than mere drowsiness during broadcasts.

Mulee described terrifying instances while driving, where fatigue would hit without warning, prompting him to make sudden stops to avoid potential accidents.

“Once your sleep comes, it comes. It was a very tough thing,” he admitted.

Fortunately, Mulee found a path to recovery through surgery aimed at addressing his condition.

“They removed a huge piece from my throat,” he explained, detailing the medical procedure that provided much-needed relief.

Reflecting on his transformation post-surgery, Mulee joyfully stated, “After that, I never get tired. It is not a good condition; it disturbed me.”

With his health now on the mend, Ghost Mulee’s story attributes his ordeal to the strength of family bonds and the serendipitous outcomes of harsh realities.

His journey stands as a compelling reminder of the importance of health awareness, and how acts of love can lead to new beginnings.
