DJ Brownskin purportedly advised his deceased spouse, Sharon Njeri Mwangi, to take her own life.
DJ Brownskin, also known as Michael Macharia Njiiri, found himself in the midst of controversy as he was formally accused of aiding the suicide of his wife, Sharon Njeri Mwangi, which occurred on July 29, 2022.
In addition, the DJ faced a second charge of failing to take all necessary measures to prevent his wife from taking her own life, despite being aware of her intentions.
He was also charged with destroying potential evidence related to the suicide from his phone on June 1, 2023, despite knowing that such evidence would be crucial for legal proceedings.
During the hearing before Milimani chief magistrate Lukas Onyina, DJ Brownskin pleaded not guilty to all charges.
The prosecution strongly opposed his release on bail, resulting in his detention until June 15, 2023. On this date, the court will make a decision regarding his potential release on bond or bail.
DJ Brownskin will face charges for allegedly aiding suicide, which is in violation of Section 225 (b) of the penal code.
It is claimed that on July 29, 2022, in Kariobangi South, Buruburu sub-county, he provided counsel to Sharon Njeri Mwangi, encouraging her to take her own life.
