‘I respected you, sikutaka tukosane ama uone mi ni msherati,” Diana Marua told her husband Bahati.
In a video shared on YouTube, the couple had a conversation where they reminisced about when they met and how they began dating.
According to Diana, when they first met and went to shoot Bahati’s mpenzi video, Bahati never made a move on her. She said that Bahati was so preoccupied and never spoke to her.
“Everyone was throwing some lines to me . Baha didn’t make a move at all. Alikuwa tu huko anaangalia luku, ile time tumemaliza video shoot aliniambia sawa tutaonana na nikaenda,” Diana recounted.
Months later they began spending a lot of time together because Bahati had seemingly liked her although he did not openly confess that and he also assumed they were now dating.
Bahati later left for a concert in Dubai and was escorted by Diana to the airport.
“Kuna mahali ulileta kamadharau. Imagine amesindikisha, in my mind I know we are dating and kumbe in her mind I am the imperfect match,” the artist said.
However after leaving, he reached out to Diana but she forgot to respond to his messages making him mad.
“I thought I replied, maisha ikasonga. Baha again tried to reach me, I didn’t call back. Two weeks later ndio ikanihit na huyu Baha alienda wapi. I go back to the messages and I was like I didn’t respond. Bahati came back na amecatch feeling, he didn’t bother to tell me,” she said.
From that incident Diana Marua took it upon herself to ensure that she doesn’t anger Bahati. She would do her best to meet him whenever he requested even if she was drunk and partying in a club.
“I put it upon myself as a duty to say good morning, check up on him during the day and nimwambie goodnight. After hapo akaniambia tunaezameet. Bahati noted that Diana would compose herself as much as possible but he could tell she was drunk.

At the same time, Bahati questioned her why she thought they will never end up together.
“Mbona Ulikuwa unaona ni kama siwezikuoa sahizi uko hapo na watoto wangu nimekupea mimba moja mbili tatu nne,” he said.
Responding to his question, Diana said that their age difference was one of the major reasons.
“The number one factor was age . You are three years younger than me so number ilikuwa society, you can not date someone who is younger than you. Mi hata nilikuwa najua nikitaka kusettle down, I will settle with some one who is older than me, a year older tungekuwa sawa,” the mother of three said.
Another reason was that was Bahati was so Biblical and Diana respected him so much.
“Nilikumeet, ulikuwa… si ati umechange per se, ulikuwa Bible Bible Bible. Do you know I used to respect you,” she added.
Bahati however noted that Diana was malnourished then but he has since helped her.
“We hata ni kama ulikuwa malnourished. Ulikuwa unateseka. Unaona vile nimekufanya umekuwa na afya. Nimekusaidia sana,” the father of five said.
