Having been brought up in Mathare slums, singer Kevin Kioko’s childhood was far from easy. From struggling to get the basic needs to trying to survive in a neighbourhood that had a high crime rate, Bahati, as he is popularly known, went through it all.
Diana Marua was once again overwhelmed with emotions as her husband talked about his late mother.
Bahati opened up how life was tough for him since his mother’s passing while speaking during an interview with Diana on her YouTube channel.
“Every time my Hubby @bahatikenya talks about the passing on of his Mother, I always ask God why? I know we shouldn’t question His plans but sometimes I only wish both our Mums were here to see, celebrate and experience our success.
“Hubby has gone through all kinds of loss but his first brothers loss was a devastating one and he didn’t see his death coming soo soon. A lot of regrets maybe? Love your people and check up on them while they’re still alive 😭😭😭,” Diana Marua wrote.
Baahti grew up at ABC Orphanage in Mathare slums after losing his mum at a young age.
Speaking about the loss, Bahati said he felt like the world had come to an end after the demise of his mum.
His dad was also not well off so they were living from hand to mouth, something that prompted him to leave in a children’s home.
