Diamond Platnumz’s record label lost two music heavyweight Harmonize and Rayvanny who went on to start their own labels.
Harmonize officially quit Wasafi in August 2019 while Rayvanny left Diamond’s label on July 12, 2022.
Even though Diamond mentored the two, he recently expressed regret for helping musicians make it big following disagreements that arose when artistes were quitting Wasafi.
Well, the Bongo superstar hasn’t quite given up on managing and helping artistes to make it big.
Diamond expressed interest to sign Bongo singer Aslay while speaking on Wednesday night August 17, 2022, during an album launch of singer Barnaba Classic.
The Wasafi boss noted that Aslay was not doing well in the music industry despite being talented.
He said that ‘Muhudumu’ hitmaker would have been a big brand all over the world if he had been signed by his label Wasafi.
“Everyone knows Aslay. He is very talented but he is not doing so well. If he was in my hands, he would be a big brand. Aslay would have gone far. Or if he got a good record label to invest in him, he would go far,” Diamond said.
“People are talented. Singer TID is among the talented artists in East Africa and if someone invested TSh1 million in him, he would be big,” he added.
The Wasafi boss added that music investors are afraid to invest in Tanzanian artists since they see what is happening to Wasafi.
“Every day we are being trolled because of how we have set our contracts.”
Diamond said the main challenge most music investors face is a lack of support from the government.
He then asked artists to be patient wherever they are signed.
