Gospel singer Daddy Owen has revealed that he nearly joined a cult during his days as a struggling musician.
Taking to his Insta stories, Owen narrated the encounter that almost changed his life.
According to him, the incident occurred while he was still staying with his brother in BuruBuru.
A Yoruba pastor then called him for a meeting in a lavish venue and he was surprised to see the artist arriving on foot.
“The first thing the pastor asked me is ‘Why don’t you have a car?”. He inquired which church I go to. I immediately told him I fellowship at KAG Buruburu, he started, ‘that is a boring church for a vibrant young man like you,” he recounted.
The pastor went ahead to invite him to his church that was located in Ngong’. He honored the invite one of the Sundays. The church was small but all the congregants were dressed expensively.
He was then ushered to the front seat as per the pastor’s directions.
“The pastor was was speaking about investments and why we should invest like him and how he can show us how to make money,” Daddy Owen narrated.
He further revealed that congregants gave hefty offerings in envelopes yet he was penniless.
After service he consulted the pastor saying he didn’t have the amount of money the he was talking about. The pastor told him to relax and promised to buy him a car.
Things however began changing and the pastor demanded to know who he communicates with. He would also be directed to switch off his phone during service and lights in the church would also be put out.
Two months later, he was still hoping that the car promise will materialize but the pastor took him around circles whenever he asked for it.
Daddy Owen was however not easily brainwashed by the pastor since he had a deeper understanding of the word of God. Three of his friends were however unlucky.
“My three friends went in too deep, lost all their wealth and one lady has never recovered to date financially and mentally,” he Owen stated.
The singer further revealed that the foreign pastor later moved back to his motherland but after converting many Kenyans into a weird doctrine.
“They used certain languages and codes, they dressed in a certain way , dood and eating time was scheduled like a ritual.
