Chrispus Mwinzi Peter, who allegedly sent intimate images and videos of Caroline Wavinya Musyimi to a third party, has been granted a Ksh200,000 bond by a Nairobi court.
Mwinzi pleaded not guilty to five counts related to the distribution of obscene material and cyber harassment.
Appearing before Milimani Law Courts Magistrate Carolyne Nyaguthii on Thursday, April 3, 2025, Mwinzi denied all charges.
The prosecution alleges that between March 16, 2025, and March 31, 2025, Mwinzi sent Wavinya’s nude images and videos to Morris Kasii Muvua via WhatsApp, violating the Computer Misuse and Cybercrimes Act.
Kasii Muvua told the court that he was detrimentally affected by obscene videos of Wavinya that Mwinzi sent him on March 25, 2025.
The charge sheet details multiple alleged offenses, including:
1. Sending obscene images to Kasii Muvua, contrary to Section 37 of the Computer Misuse and Cybercrimes Act.
2. Cyber harassment, intending to assassinate Wavinya’s character, contrary to Section 27(1)(b) of the same act.
3. Posting obscene images and videos of Wavinya, calculated to demean her status.
4. Sending obscene videos to Kasii Muvua, detrimentally affecting him.
5. Sending obscene nude images to Kasii Muvua, also detrimentally affecting him.
Magistrate Nyaguthii granted Mwinzi a bond of Ksh200,000 with a surety of the same amount, or a cash bail of Ksh100,000, with two contact persons.
The case is scheduled for mention on April 17, 2025, for further directions.
This case highlights the growing concern over the misuse of digital platforms and the distribution of intimate images without consent, which can have severe legal and personal consequences.
