Comedian Jasper Murume has shared intimate details about his former relationship with late content creator Tabitha Gatwiri, revealing a romance that flew under the radar of fans and followers.
Murume, known widely for his comedic performances on the Churchill Show, opened up about the pair’s quiet connection during Gatwiri’s memorial service earlier this week.
Murume disclosed that he and Gatwiri began dating in 2018, maintaining a private romance that went unnoticed by the public.
Even after their breakup, the two remained close, supporting one another’s careers through frequent collaborations.
“I don’t know if people knew, but Gatwiri was my girlfriend once,” Murume admitted.
He added, “That was a long time ago. I’m married now with children.”
Despite the split, they ensured no ill will lingered, focusing instead on maintaining a strong friendship.
Murume’s recollections were accompanied by tributes from fellow content creator Carol Sonnie, who expressed her own fond memories of Gatwiri.
Reflecting on a memorable visit to Gatwiri’s home, Sonnie recounted the late creator’s generosity.
“She went out of her way to make me feel comfortable, even giving me one of her own costumes when I didn’t have one,” Sonnie shared, highlighting Gatwiri’s thoughtfulness and kindness.
Tabitha Gatwiri, a beloved influencer and comedian, passed away on October 31, 2024, shocking Kenya’s entertainment community.
An autopsy conducted at Kenyatta University Funeral Home found that her cause of death was suffocation due to positional asphyxia, a condition where one’s posture restricts airflow, leading to brain edema and fatal oxygen deprivation.
Gatwiri will be laid to rest on November 15 in her hometown of Nyeri, leaving behind a legacy of humor, friendship, and warmth that touched many within Kenya’s entertainment industry.
