Citizen TV’s Stephen Letoo Fears For Safety After Attack On His Home

Stephen Letoo, a prominent journalist with Citizen TV, has voiced deep concerns for his and his family’s safety after his rural home in Enooretet was attacked in the early hours of the morning.

Taking to Instagram, Letoo described the unsettling event, revealing that unknown assailants targeted his property, heightening fears of ongoing harassment.

Letoo recounted that the attack happened at around 2 a.m. when stones were thrown into his compound and onto the roofs of his home.

This incident follows a series of similar events, which the journalist believes are deliberate attempts to intimidate him.

“Last night, a group of unknown people attacked my rural home in Enooretet at around 2 a.m. They hurled stones at my compound and threw other stones on top of houses,” Letoo wrote.

The journalist, who has faced threats before, said that the latest attack feels like a significant escalation.

Letoo expressed growing concern that those behind these incidents may be attempting to harm him or his family, describing the situation as an increasingly dangerous one.

“I consider this a serious threat to my family and an attempt to cause harm or even kill either me or my loved ones,” he shared in his post.

He also hinted at suspicions that the harassment is not random but part of a wider plot aimed at silencing or intimidating him in his professional capacity.

Letoo issued a stark warning to those responsible, threatening to publicly expose them if the attacks did not stop.

“To those orchestrating these attacks, stop now before I reveal your identities,” he cautioned.

In his post, Letoo also called for greater security measures from local authorities. He made a direct appeal to a nearby General Service Unit (GSU) camp, urging them to take swift action to ensure the safety of his home and the surrounding area.

“I urge the GSU camp close to my home to step up and protect my family, myself, and our neighbors,” Letoo implored.

The attack has sparked widespread concern, as many in the media industry see it as yet another reminder of the risks faced by journalists in Kenya.

Letoo’s call for immediate intervention comes as he continues to navigate these growing threats with uncertainty hanging over his family’s security.
