Chipukeezy: I Was Lousy Drunk, President Uhuru Saved Me

Chipukeezy used to ‘chew’ blackout when drinking alcohol, he nearly became an alcoholic were it not for President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The comedian opened up about his drinking habit while speaking during a recent interview. He stated that he has been sober for the last three years.

Chipukeezy said he used to be a lousy drunk who would forget everything he did in the bar when he sobered up.

“It’s been three years since I quit alcohol. I just woke up and decided I didn’t want to take alcohol anymore. I would be told about what I did when I was in the bar,” said Chipukeezy.

The comedian said quitting alcohol was not easy and was forced to let go some friends who would drag him back to the bar.

“I was getting exhausted by all that, so I cut off some friends and changed my lifestyle. Some people thought I was crazy.”

Chipukeezy noted that he decided to quit drinking after President Uhuru Kenyatta appointed him to the board of National Authority for the Campaign Against Drug Abuse (NACADA).

NACADA objective is to fight drug abuse and Chipukeezy couldn’t serve in the board while he himself was an alcoholic.
