Actress Catherine Kamau has taken offence at those suggesting that it is her time to retire from the film industry.
Kamau confronted critics who were castigating the local film industry for recycling actors and actresses.
A section of netizens has been lamenting that local movie makers were just using the same faces over and over as if the country lacked fresh talent.
Reacting to the criticisms, Catherine Kamau noted that people should stop looking at acting as a part-time job.
She said acting was a career that should be taken seriously just like any other profession,
“Please help me understand the chat of ‘recycling actors’. If you are a lawyer and close a case, are you meant to change careers after that?” She said.
“Acting is a career. Furthermore, what are actors meant to do besides go to other productions?” She posed.
Kate termed those calling for her to ‘retire’ as disrespect, saying nobody would tell a doctor to take a break or give fresh doctors a chance.
