Bien married his long-time girlfriend Chiki Kuruka Onukwe from Nigeria in 2020. The two lovebirds had their wedding ceremony at a hotel in Lavington, Nairobi on a Friday.
It was a private, low-key wedding with only a few invited guests. Bien’s bandmates from Sauti Sol were there – Willis Chimano, Savara Mudigi and Polycarp Otieno. Some other celebrity guests included singers Nyashinski and Nameless.
The wedding was very secretive with tight security. No media or unexpected guests could get in. One person said “It is a very secret event with tight security. No gate crashers or media!”
Bien and Chiki were originally planning to get married in 2019. But they had to postpone the wedding to 2020 because Chiki’s family could not make it that year. Bien, who is 32 years old, proposed to Chiki in February 2019 at a cinema in Westlands, Nairobi.
Chiki is a dance choreographer. The couple met soon after she came to Kenya from the United Kingdom where her family lives. She was introduced to Bien by a Kenyan fashion designer named Emmanuel Jambo.
In an interview, Chiki explained why they went public with their relationship, saying “We dated for a whole year before we decided to go public about our love affair. We did not want rumors of cheating or suggestions that either of us had a sponsor.”
Bien now says he’s suffering due to farts from Chiki. “Women should fart on the first date so that we know if we want to leave or stay. 10 years in I’m dying.”
