“I think there might be something wrong with that white dress,” Betty Kyallo says.
In a candid interview with Dr. King’ori, Betty Kyallo pointed a finger at her white wedding gown for the breakdown of her marriage to journalist Dennis Okari.
Expressing her astonishment at the swift collapse of her marriage, Betty reflected on the timeline of events.
“I’m still trying to make sense of it all. We spent four years together before tying the knot, but within a mere six months, everything crumbled. I can’t help but wonder if there was something amiss with that white dress,” Betty narrated.
Adding to her perspective, Betty Kyallo also discussed her belief in an African superstition that excessive talk or boasting about certain aspects of one’s life can attract bad luck. She suggested that this belief might have had a role to play in the difficulties she faced in her marriage.
Their wedding was highly publicized and a topic of conversation because they spent so much to make it grand and unforgettable.
In a lighthearted remark, Betty’s younger sister, Mercy, jokingly commented on the brevity of Betty’s marriage, asking, “Six months of marriage, was that a crash course or something?”
Betty also acknowledged the reality that sometimes certain things are not meant to be, and trying to salvage a failing relationship is futile. She expressed that despite their divorce, Dennis Okari remains a friend to her.
