Beth Mugo’s husband who happens to be the one and only Nicholas Muratha Mugo was cremated a few hours after he passed on.
Ambassador Mugo succumbed to prostate cancer on Thursday morning of February 3, 2022, at the Nairobi hospital. He was 86-years-old.
The husband of the nominated Senator, Ambassador Nicholas Muratha Mugo was cremated in a private ceremony that took 10 minutes.
The cremation ceremony that took place at the Kariokor crematorium was attended by close friends and family members were also attended by Mama Ngina Kenyatta, Muhoho Kenyatta and other notable family members.
A close family member, Kung’u Muigai noted that more details would be shared today.
“Everything will be addressed at home (Kitisuru) during the church service on Sunday,” Kung’u, who is also the family spokesperson said.
President Uhuru Kenyatta who is Beth’s first cousin mourned Nicholas Mugo as a true patriot who was keen on making sure that he had laid a good foundation for his country.
“He was able to represent our nation as a diplomat in the United Kingdom and later at the UN General Assembly where, together with other Kenyans, he effectively represented Kenya’s interests in the global arena,” President Kenyatta eulogized him.
The late Nicholas Mugo served as the Kenyan diplomat to Yogoslavia, France, Sudan and even served as the Kenyan Ambassador to Ethiopia from 1969 to 1973.
Among many accomplishments he had achieved in his life, he always made time to be an elder at the Presbyterian Church of East Africa(PCEA) where he served in that position for many years.
