Bahati Shows Mathare Voters The Middle Finger After 2022 Election Defeat

Bahati has boldly asserted that his earnings surpass those of certain Members of Parliament in Kenya, insisting that salary was not the motivation behind his bid to contest for Mathare constituency seat.

Speaking to entertainment journalists during a promotional event for a brand he endorses, Bahati clarified that his foray into politics was not motivated by financial gain, as he already earns more than MPs.

With his characteristic humor, Bahati highlighted the fact that many MPs lack the luxury vehicles he has, referencing the lavish Range Rover he gifted to his wife, Diana Marua, during their 7th wedding anniversary celebration.

“There are many members of parliament who currently do not own a luxury Range Rover like the one I bought for my wife,” he remarked.

He bragged that he still has the ability to help the people of Mathare without him being their area MP.

“I still have the ability to help the people of Mathare without being their Member of Parliament. I want to go back there with my foundation and continue to help them; we don’t have to wait to be chosen. Because I make more money than an MP. If a member of parliament is paid 900k, that is nothing to me,” Bahati stated.

Bahati also stressed that while he did not enter politics for wealth, he intended to create a positive impact in society.

“I didn’t compete for money; I just wanted to make a positive impact but I can still do that even without being an MP. But if given a chance, I will do even more,” he stated.

The artist took a shot at political office during the 2022 elections, vying for the Mathare constituency seat on the Jubilee party ticket.

However, he finished in third place, trailing behind the ODM party’s winner and the UDA candidate who secured second place.

Bahati disappeared from the public eye for months after the shock defeat in the Mathare parliamentary election.
