A Kenyan recently captured the attention of netizens after choosing to ink the name of Amber Ray and Kennedy Rapudo’s lastborn daughter, Africannah, on their arm.
The move sparked mixed reactions, with some questioning why the yet-to-be-identified individual was so moved by the child that they decided to tattoo her name. Others felt the act was unwise.
In response to the gesture, Africannah’s mother, Amber Ray, expressed her gratitude in a social media post, saying they love the person back.
“I’m so deeply touched! Seeing Africannah’s name, which means ‘Queen Mother of the Continent,’ tattooed on your hand is beyond beautiful,” the social media influencer wrote.
“Whoever you are, just know we appreciate you, and may your journey be blessed. You truly have a special place in our hearts. We love you right back,” Amber Ray added.
However, her followers were disappointed with her reaction, expecting her to show appreciation in a bigger and more meaningful way.
“I thought you would invite that person for dinner with your family so they could meet Africannah,” Jeptoo Ruto commented.
Another Instagram user, Fauzia, wrote, “Wacha nitatoo the Bahatis, najua angalau nitabuyiwa ka Demio,” implying that the Bahati family would reward her with a visible gift.
“Hio tu? At least do something big for them,” Mustafa Thuranira suggested, hinting that mere words were not enough.
Amber has been on netizens’ radar in recent days. First, she drew attention for criticizing celebrities who hold low-key or budget weddings, with many concluding that she was comparing The Murayas’ (Size 8 and DJ Mo) private wedding to that of Hamisa Mobetto and Azizi Ki.
Her remarks on celebrity weddings sparked an online feud with former Miss Kenya, Rachel Mbeki, who accused Amber of bullying her during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Days later, netizens pressured Amber to drop the “Bibi ya Tajiri” (Rich Man’s Wife) tag after Diana Marua was gifted a customized G-Wagon by her husband, Bahati. Many argued that the title suited Diana better, given the lavish gifts her husband had showered her with during this month of love, as they prepare to mark eight years of marriage.
