Akothee Distances Herself from Family Scandals: “Only My Children Benefit from My Brand”

Esther Akoth, better known as Akothee, has come out with a fiery statement, distancing her personal brand from the controversies surrounding her relatives.

Taking to social media, the outspoken mother of five expressed frustration over being linked to her family’s messy affairs, particularly a recent breakup that has been making headlines.

Akothee made it clear that her highly successful brand should not be associated with any family members, other than her own children.

In a pointed Facebook post, Akothee appeared to reference her sister, Cebbie Koks, whose marriage has reportedly hit the rocks, although neither party has officially confirmed the split.

Cebbie did, however, confirm to sources that she and her husband are no longer together.

Without mentioning names, Akothee lashed out at the media for using her name in unrelated family issues, saying, “Do not tag my brand along the family I came from. The family that came from me are the only beneficiaries and have shares in Brand Akothee.”

She emphasised that her brand ‘Akothee’ is a result of her own hard work, and the only people who should benefit from it are her children, not her extended family members.

“I have no idea why Brand Akothee is on the front page of a newspaper in relation to a breakup that isn’t mine,” she wrote.

“Do you people realise how you misuse my brand? What name will you use when I actually have a breakup, now that you’re throwing my name around while celebrating other people’s mess?”

Akothee, known for her no-nonsense attitude, added that while the media is quick to link her to family scandals, it rarely highlights her charitable work, including her contributions through the Akothee Foundation and Akothee Academy, which aims to improve education in Kenya.

“The rest have no shares in this brand, they liquidated their shares. Just know I am being blamed and punished for being a celebrity and minding my own business,” she wrote in frustration.

Her final message was clear: Akothee’s brand belongs to her children and her alone, and she demanded that her name no longer be dragged into family drama or scandals she has no part in.

“We don’t sell the same product,” she quipped, reminding the public and the media to keep her personal and professional lives separate.

It’s not the first time Akothee has had to defend her name from tabloid fodder, and given her outspoken nature, it likely won’t be the last.
