In a shocking display of jealousy and hostility, singer and entrepreneur Akothee found herself in a tense confrontation during her recent trip to Uganda after a woman publicly called for her to be poisoned.
The controversial incident has drawn widespread attention and raised questions about the darker side of fame.
The woman, identified as Ma Doris Muturi on Facebook, made a startling post on social media urging Ugandans to poison Akothee.
“Si one Ugandan ajitolee pee hii kinyagarika sumu. RIP in advance,” she boldly proclaimed, translating to a request for someone to offer poison, with a chilling implication of wishing death upon the beloved musician.
Stunned by the vitriol directed at her, Akothee didn’t hold back in her response.
With her characteristic wit, she sarcastically questioned Ma Doris about what she stood to gain from her demise.
“Ma Doris Muturi, do I trigger your failures so badly that you wish to see me dead?” she retorted.
“Will you occupy my space and be Akothee when you can’t even be yourself? Wao get well soon,” Akothee added, hinting at the absurdity of the hostility.
In another post that highlighted the challenges of being in the public eye, Akothee addressed the incident further.
“Now you understand the life inside being a public figure and why we don’t visit people’s houses especially women? Why should I be killed? 🤣🤣”
Akothee, who is not only a prominent artiste but also serves as a brand ambassador for Uganda Tourism, was in the country to attend the 3rd Uganda-Kenya Coast Conference.
Despite the disturbing encounter, she maintained her poise and humor, demonstrating resilience in the face of negativity.
The incident has raised awareness about the impact of envy and toxicity online, showcasing the sometimes harsh realities faced by public figures.
As Akothee continues her career, it’s clear that she won’t let such hatred deter her shine.
