Jamal ‘Rohosafi’ Marlow is battling a condition that literally makes his bed useless and his multimillion shillings mansion not fully utilized.

The Matatu Operators Association chairman has trouble sleeping as he suffers from insomnia.

Jamal opened up about his condition revealing that he has had trouble sleeping since he was a student in high school.

The businessman lamented that he has never slept for more than five hours for many years.

“I slept at 11:00 pm awake at 2:30am. I have never slept more than 5 hours since high school… Insomnia is real in my life,” wrote Jamal.

Insomnia is a sleep disorder in which one has trouble falling and/or staying asleep. The condition can be short-term (acute) or can last a long time (chronic).

It may also come and go. Acute insomnia lasts from 1 night to a few weeks. Insomnia is chronic when it happens at least 3 nights a week for 3 months or more.

Most cases of insomnia are related to poor sleeping habits, depression, anxiety, lack of exercise, chronic illness or certain medication.

Symptoms may include difficulty falling or staying asleep and not feeling well-rested.

Treatment for insomnia consists of improving sleep habits, behavior therapy and identifying and treating underlying causes. Sleeping pills are recommended in some cases, but should be monitored for side effects.
