Crazy Kennar ventured into business in May 2021, and launched his restaurant in Juja, Kiambu county in a star studded event.
However, he no longer runs it after encountering challenges that he didn’t know he would face.
In a recent interview with Obinna, the funny man said that he thought it would be easy to run the business of the kind, since people wouldn’t miss to eating but he was shocked.
“The restaurant business is the funniest I have ever had. We opened a restaurant. When you start a business you think it is easy we will open today, market and people will come, they can’t skip eating,” he said.
Things however went south, firstly because of the people he employed to run the establishment.
According to him, he opted to employ close friends instead of professionals.
“Tukapatia beshte yetu fulani aendeshe nduthi, nakumbuka akiendesha nduthi hadi kwa bush ikajikunja. Tukatafuta beshte yangu mwingine akuje akuwe waiter. Beshte yangu anapiga tu story hajui hata kama customer yuko. Waiter anakula buffet kwa hoteli,” he hilariously narrated.
“Business is not the way we understand, there are people who understand it deeply.”
He added that at some point, he was forced to buy all the remaining food so that the restaurant doesn’t make losses.
Kennar admitted that at first the business was making good profits but he also encountered a setback when he chose to expand it.
“Unaexpand hivi, watu wanasema tumechoka kukula. You come there in the morning you are the only one who has eaten breakfast and lunch,” he said.
“I learnt that if you are a new business owner, there are somethings you need to understand. You might have the skills but business has its own language. Ask someone who had already done business before you start at least they will guide you,” he further advised
