In an emotional speech during Princess Jully’s memorial, one of her sons dispelled hurtful rumors that the beloved singer had died due to poverty.
Speaking on TikTok, the young man clarified that his mother, a cherished figure in Kenyan music, was well cared for in her final days.
Addressing the claims, he explained that Princess Jully was never in want of basic necessities.
“She didn’t even know the price of essentials like sugar, oil, or flour. We always bought these in bulk—sugar by the sack, oil in 20-litre containers—she simply called us if supplies were running low,” he shared, emphasizing that his mother lived comfortably and with dignity.
He highlighted that Princess Jully had begun to enjoy the fruits of her labor, supported by the education she had worked hard to provide for her children.
“She passed at a time when she was reaping the benefits of her work, surrounded by love and security,” he noted, refuting any notions of financial hardship.
The son also revealed that he had initially chosen to stay silent out of respect for biblical teachings on humility but felt compelled to speak out to honor his mother’s memory.
“The Bible says not to let the left hand know what the right hand does, but I felt I had to address these rumors. My mother was not suffering,” he affirmed, putting to rest any misconceptions about the life Princess Jully led.
The family had earlier said that Princess Jully succumbed to multiple organ failure after a prolonged illness.
