Tanzanian music star and Wasafi Media CEO Diamond Platnumz has yet to come to terms with the death of his close friend and employee, Khadija Shaibu, known as Dida.
In an exclusive interview with Wasafi FM, Diamond opened up about his deep sense of confusion and heartbreak following Dida’s sudden passing two weeks ago.
Diamond described the talented journalist as not just a colleague but also a close family friend, adding that her death had a profound impact on him.
The grief, he said, was unlike anything he had experienced before, leading him to withdraw from social media and media interviews in an attempt to cope.
“I’ve faced many losses, but this one is different due to its weight. I’m not ready to talk about it yet. When I’m ready, I will speak, but for now, I’m not,” Diamond shared during the emotional interview.
The musician expressed that he had done everything he could during Dida’s illness and even after her passing but chose to keep his efforts private out of respect for her memory.
“Dida was not just my employee; she was my close sister. Anything I did during the mourning period, I didn’t want to publicize. When I am ready, I will talk,” he added.
Khadija Shaibu Dida, a beloved radio presenter at Wasafi FM, passed away suddenly after a brief illness. She was laid to rest in Dar es Salaam, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and professionalism.
Following her death, Diamond Platnumz promised to support Dida’s daughter by sponsoring her education, a gesture shared through Wasafi Media’s director as a way of honoring her memory.
