As 2022 draws closer, many Kenyans are willing to through their hatchet in the political world. And some of those Kenyans who have shown interest in vying for a political seat come the next General elections include celebrities.
Some of the Kenyan celebrities who have either shown interest or revealed their plans to vie in the next general elections include;
Jalang’o
Comedian Felix Odiwour, alias Jalang’o has openly shown interest to vie for a political seat in the next general election.
The Kiss FM radio host has constantly revealed his plans to vie for the Lang’ata constituency parliamentary seat, threatening to replace the current MP Nixon Korir.
Jalang’o will likely vie for the seat through an ODM party ticket after registering for the party’s lifetime membership.
Various celebrities have supported his bid for the MP seat. Some of those celebs include Alex Mwakideu, Maina Kageni, and Khaligraph Jones.
OJ
The former Tahidi High actor Dennis Mugo alias OJ is another celebrity who has expressed his desire to vie for a political seat in next year’s general elections.
Earlier this year, OJ revealed his plans to vie for the Member of County Assembly seat of Ruguru-Ngandori Ward in Embu County. The actor noted that he would vie for the seat under the Deputy President William Ruto’s allied Party, UDA. He has since registered as a UDA party member.
Jaguar
Starehe MP Charles Njagua will also be seeking to defend his seat for the second time in the next poll. The Kigeugeu singer will be seeking to defend the parliamentary seat that he clinched in 2017 under the Jubilee Party certificate.
Eric Omondi
In recent times, comedian Eric Omondi has been vocal about the rights of the youth in this county and has been calling for leadership change in the country.
The president of Africa comedy has been calling for top leaders in the country to pack and go home and let the youth rule the country. His criticism of the government has made many speculate whether he is eyeing any political seat in the next general elections.
Omondi has, however, not made public his plans to vie in the next elections. Only time will tell if the funnyman will shift from comedy and try to rule the country in another capacity.
Jaque Maribe
Like her baby daddy, former Citizen TV presenter Jaque Maribe is willing to try her fate in the political scenes. Previously, Maribe revealed her plans to join politics in 2022.
She said she would vie for either a parliamentary seat or seek to replace Sabina Chege for the women’s representative seat in Murang’a county.
Xtian Dela
Radio producer and blogger Xtian Dela have also revealed his plans to vie for a political seat. Dela noted that the country needed some fresh blood in the political scenes, though he has not mentioned the seat he will be vying for.
