Vera Sidika and other co-stars were each paid Ksh750,000 for season one but for season two the pay is way bigger.
The production of its much-anticipated second season of the Real Housewives of Nairobi (RHON) is now in progress.
The first season’s concluded in May 2023.
Actress Minne Kariuki, Dr Catherine Masitsa, and Vera Sidika have all signed new contracts for the popular reality show season two.
Some celebrities who met the eligibility criteria to feature in RHON were reportedly hesitant to participate, largely due to concerns about the show’s terms and payment structure.
An insider said that most cast usually finance their activities from their own pockets as the pay can hardly cover their finances. They are in the show basically for fame.
“Most individuals expressing interest are wealthy and are willing to pursue fame, as the compensation provided to the cast members hardly covers their expenses,” the insider said.
However, the insider noted that most celebrities approached to star in the show were hesitant because of shooting complexities.
“The cast members shoot for approximately five months, working from early morning until late at night, and they must also make appearances at various events. This schedule can be highly demanding,” the insider said.
The insider revealed that each cast will be paid Ksh400,000 per month for the five month shoot, meaning by the end of the season Vera Sidika and her costars will each earn Ksh2 million.
“The compensation has been reported to be around 400k per month. In the upcoming second season, the cast members are expected to receive compensation of approximately Sh2.3 million,” the insider said.
