Sonko enrolled his daughter Sandra Mbuvi in a prestigious UK school where he is paying Ksh6 million a year.
The former Nairobi governor on September 21, 2023, bid goodbye to his daughter at the airport as she flew to the UK.
“With a heart full of mixed emotions tonight, I am very happy but sad at the same time seeing off my lovely daughter Sandra Mbuvi to London, where she’ll be joining Brighton International University for a four years course after graduating from St. Austins Academy, Nairobi,” Sonko’s statement read in part.
“Dear daughter, i want you to know how proud I am of the adventurous spirit within you. Watching you spread your wings and embark on this exciting journey to study abroad fills me with happiness for all the opportunities and experiences that await you.
“Yet, at the same time, a part of me feels a profound sadness, realizing how much I’ll miss your presence, our daily conversations, and the warmth of your smile. The house will feel emptier without your laughter and that of your mum, who will also be away with you for four months as you adopt the new environment and culture.
“Safe travels, and may your journey and new life be filled with success and happiness. I love you so much,” Sonko wrote.
Sandra was escorted to the UK by her mother Primrose who admitted her to Brighton International University.
Primrose returned home after a week of getting Sandra to settle at the varsity.
Mother and daughter were seen bidding each other goodbyes in a posts on social media.
“Bye Primrose I’ll miss you,” Sandra wrote.
Primrose prayed for her daughter as she left her alone in the UK to begin a new chapter of her academic life.
“Prayer: Lord, give my daughter wise discernment, and may she gain wisdom to add to her learning. Give her a hunger and thirst to understand your Word, and an excitement to learn about the world around her. Help her to know that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, knowledge, and true understanding. (Proverbs 9:10) Amen. @thickyy_sandra my London Babe💗❤️U,” Primrose wrote.
