Gospel singer Ringtone Apoko has claimed that Lupita Nyong’o ignores him nowadays.
While narrating the story of his life at Radio 47, Ringtone revealed that they used to know each while Lupita was acting in popular TV series Shuga.
Ringtone says that his efforts to reach out at the successful actress have been met with cold silence.
Due to that he now plans to buy a house in Hollywood so that he can also feature in movies.
“Saa hizi niko Runda, Muthaiga, Karen na kina mombasa kwa beach hata sahizi nataka kununua nyumba South Africa na ikiezekana sasa dream yangu yenye niko nayo Lupita Nyong’o tulikuwa nayeye akiact Shuga siku hizi nikimDM haniongeleshi kwa hio sasa nataka kununua nyumba pale Hollywood Beverly Hills ndio watoto wangu niwe nawapeleka hapo na kabla nikufe nataka kutokea kwa movie kadhaa,” Ringtone said.
The self proclaimed chair of gospel opened up on his childhood struggles after being abandoned by his mother at a very tender age.
“Mimi nilizaliwa Nairobi. Nilienda Mombasa kutafuta mzungu. Babangu alikuwa anauza magazeti Tom Mboya street. Alikuwa mlevi wakakosana na mamangu, mamangu akasirika akaniacha kwa box nikiwa mdogo wa kunyonya akaniacha kwa streets karibu na hapo magazines zinauzawa,” Ringtone narrated.
He was picked by his uncle and taken to his grandmother brought him up. At the age of five, his dad passed away and his grandmother followed when he was just 7 years old.
“After my grandmother’s death, I became a street boy. I have been in different towns, Eldoret, Kericho as a shoe shiner, after that I hid under a chair in an Eldoret Express bus at night that was heading to Nairobi. I was heading to Mombasa,” he recalled.
He wanted to can find a rich white woman to marry him and take him out of the country. At the time he was only 15 years old.
Once in Mombasa at Pirates beach, his mission was however unsuccessful as no white woman approached him. He decided to hang around a hotel that is white people frequent only for him to meet a man who prayed for them and encouraged him to get saved and have faith in God.
From there his life began transforming as he was able to complete his high school studies and release his hit songs that propelled him to success.
