Citizen TV journalist Trevor Ombija came from a very poor family but managed to overcome poverty nonetheless.
Ombija is one of the most popular journalists in Kenya at the moment and is the host of the Monday Report on Citizen TV.
But before his success in the media industry, Ombija went through a lot to have his big break.
Ombija reminisced about working as a matatu tout in Nyakach, Kisumu county during a recent interview.
“I was the conductor of Matatu in that area (Nyakach) for a long time,” Ombija said.
“Standing on the bus platform and interacting with boda boda drivers and matatu drivers is a normal thing for me because I was one of them,” he added.
Trevor’s revelation comes a week after the broadcaster celebrated his birthday telling Kenyans about one thing he has learned over the years.
“As I turn a year today, there are many things I am proud of and some I regret, but one thing I have learned over time is to give myself time, everything will work out in the end, if it hasn’t, then it’s not the end, Amen? Thank you for all the birthday wishes. Official great boy.”
Two and a half months ago. Trevor introduced his newborn. His surprise news delighted Kenyans as the journalist prefers to remain private about his life.
News about fatherhood was revealed on Father’s Day.
