Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu is planning to take Kenyans through thorough Swahili lessons.
During the thirteenth African Food Summit in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania the head of state was forced to correct some of the errors that some of the President William Ruto had made during while addressing the gathering in Swahili.
“Habari za mchana juzi Ruto alitufundisha jambo akasema semeni jambo tukasema jambo lakini the real thing ni habari za mchana. Hawa wakenya hawa, kuenda kusaini mkataba wanasema kuenda kueka kidole inabidi tuwaeke kwenye lessons za Kiswahili,”Samia said.
During his time speak, CNN journalist Larry Madowo however cracked the audience when he noted that Tanzanians also address Kenyans in broken English.
He however said that that is a family matter that will be handled.
“Lazima nimtetee rais wangu Ruto. Wakenya na watanzania sisi ni mandugu wa karibu Tunaongelesha waTanzania kwa Kiswahili kibaya, wanatujibu na Kizungu kibaya, tunaendelea tunasonga mbele kama injili. What I said is Tanzania and Kenya we are close friends that’s all nothing more, this is a family matter we are going to leave it there,” the journalist said.
“Niliua nyumba pale Dar halafu Rais William Ruto akaongezea. Nilidanganya?” Larry further captioned the video of the event that he shared on his Instagram account.
President William Ruto, who was also present, also reacted to the joke supporting Larry Madowo. He also jokingly raised concerns over which azimio that President Samia was talking about.
“Pia nimeskia kwa taarifa yako umerudia azimio, hao walikuwa na azimio, sasa nikapata wasiwasi kidogo kwa sababu huko kwetu azimio ni mambo mengine azimio ni chama ya upinzani iko na fujo kweli,” he said.
