DJ Evolve Claims He Did Not See Babu Owino Shooting Him

Aki pesa wewe! DJ Evolve now says he did not witness Embakasi East MP Babu Owino shooting him at B Club.

Testifying remotely from his bed, DJ Evolve informed Senior Principal Magistrate Bernard Ochoi that he did not witness MP Babu Owino shooting him on the morning of January 17, 2020.

Defense lawyer Duncan Okatch asked Evolve if he saw who shot him, “Did you see Babu Owino with a gun?”

“No, we were just having conversations with Mr. Owino, and the next thing I knew, I was in an ambulance on my way to the hospital,” DJ Evolve informed the court.

The DJ, guided in his testimony by defense lawyer Okatch, mentioned that Mr. Owino had been his personal friend since 2017.

When asked if he knew what exactly happened, the DJ responded that he did not know.

Furthermore, the DJ informed the court that after the incident, Mr. Owino was the sole person who assisted him with his expenses, including hospital bills and personal costs.

The DJ stated that there was no disturbance before the shooting and that the lights at B Club had been dimmed.

He also disclosed that he never saw Mr. Owino carrying a firearm inside the club.

The DJ clarified that he was not compelled to testify in Mr. Owino’s defense.

The DJ’s testimony was supported by Mr. Owino’s bodyguard, Edwin Gedi Otieno, who stated that Mr. Owino had deposited his gun and nine rounds of ammunition in the club’s armory.

The firearm was entrusted to Charles Ochieng, the armory keeper.

Gedi informed the magistrate that Mr. Owino’s gun could not fire as it had malfunctioned at the Ngong shooting range on January 15, 2020.

Earlier, a ballistics expert who examined the gun testified that it was incapable of firing.

The armory keeper informed the court that he held onto Mr. Owino’s gun until 7 a.m. on January 17, 2020, when he returned it to the MP.

Mr. Otieno explained that he accompanied the MP to the van that was transporting the injured DJ to the hospital.
