Maina Kageni claims his mother was indoctrinated by the preacher when he came to Kenya.
The Classic 105 radio presenter while speaking on his show painfully recounted how his mother once denied him a small amount of money but offered an American-Israeli pastor much more than that as a tithe.
Maina said that his mother denied him Ksh40,000 when he asked her despite the fact that he had pleaded with her.
However, Maina noted that his mother gladly gave Benny Hinn a whopping Ksh500,000 when he visited Kenya.
“My mum gave half a million to US preacher Bennie Hinn as tithe. Yet I asked her to give me Ksh40,000 and she told me she did not have cash,” Maina Kageni sadly recalled.
Toufik Benedictus “Benny” Hinn is an Israeli Christian televangelist, best known for his regular “Miracle Crusades”—revival meeting or faith healing summits that are usually held in stadiums in major cities, which are later broadcast worldwide on his television program, This Is Your Day.
Benny Hinn holds American, Canadian and Israeli citizenships even though he was born and raised in the latter country.
Maina opened up about his mother giving Benny Hinn Ksh500,000 amid ongoing discussion on religion following the Shakahola cult saga where nearly 100 bodies have been exhumed by the police.
Pastor Paul Mackenzie of Good News International Church gained some notoriety in the press after it emerged that he asked his followers to starve to death in order to meet Jesus.
However, it also emerged that Mackenzie enriched himself from his followers’ ignorance as he took over their properties while asking them to starve themselves to death.
It was revealed that followers of Mackenzie’s cult are made up of not only the perceived poor in resources, but also well-read, career individuals.
