Why Police Declined To Release Eric Omondi On Bail- Fred Omondi

Eric Omondi was forced to spend Tuesday night at the Central police station after he was arrested for protesting about the high cost of living outside parliament.

According to his brother Fred Omondi,  the self-proclaimed president of Comedy was denied  police bail following orders from above.

Fred said that officers at the Central Police had no issue with releasing him but were forced to detain him because of the orders.

“We were told that he can’t be released on bail, there are orders from above. We had the money. Krg The Don had Kshs100,000 so money was not the problem, we had cash. The officers had no issue but they could not grant him bail. The problem is were just told he can’t be released and it is not like he will escape, he is sane.

“Central had no issues with him, even parliament because we were there. But if you hear it is a call from above that this person should be released,” he told Digital content creators.

Fred further said that Eric did not panic after being arrested adding that he wants Kenyans to stand with his idea.

“For the first time Eric has done something that resonates with Kenyans, until people are saying why didn’t he inform us so that we go together. He is very calm despite the pressure. He said it is okay when he was told that he spend the night in cell. He wants Kenyans to stand with the idea he was pushing even if they don’t want to stand with him,” he said.

At the same time, Fred denied claims that Eric had been paid to protest.

Currently, Eric has been presented at the Milimani Law Courts and is being represented by Lawyer Danstan Omari.
