Makena Njeri Sets Out List Of Demands In Draft Open Letter To Kenyan Parents

Makena Njeri has had several nasty experiences because of her sexuality. She has now decided to take the bull by the horns.

The popular lesbian has opted to promote tolerance for homosexuality by writing an open letter to parents.

Njeri implores parents to embrace their children’s sexuality in the event that they are homosexuals.

See set out a list of demands from parents in her open letter. Read below:

Dear parents. Let’s get straight to it. I am tired, frustrated , disappointed and heartbroken ? by the many messages I receive on the daily from your children. All of them have the same tone. I am tired because my parent is threatening to throw me out of the house, I am tired because my parent is physically and emotionally abusing me , I am tired because my parent does not want to love me for who I am, I am tired and I am thinking of committing suicide. I had to say it just the way it is. What are we doing? Where did love go?

All these are messages I receive from kids who are queer. They matter and deserve to be loved.

Can we please work together from a point of love and willingness to learn? I am here and ready to help. To accept and support your child the best way you can, stop making them miserable until they can’t handle it anymore. Why would you as a parent be selfish not to open space for dialogue? Remember your identity is different and doesn’t have to necessarily match your child’s identity.

Let me end this with some reality. Whether you kick them out, abuse them, push them to their breaking point their identity will never change. You might end up loosing your child. Please love on them, please talk to us we will help you navigate how to work around this journey. Let your children live an authentic life and try support them!

To the children your parents are also battling their own traumas let’s give each other grace and hope that soon we will have an educated and accepting society.

We will continue to support you all the best way we can. @boldnetworkafrica through our mental health services platform with @wazitalk reach out and speak to a therapist.

Yours Truly,

Chris. ( I am not a parent but I speak for those children because I understand)
