Sauti Sol is losing their fanbase as a result of their decision to wrongly accused Raila Odinga for breach of copyright.
The group blasted Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance for using their song ‘Extravaganza’ without their consent during the unveiling of Martha Karua as Raila’s running mate.
However, it later emerged that Raila Paid Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK) to play local songs during his campaign.
Sauti Sol continued to antagonize Raila and Azimio even after it emerged that MCSK gave the ODM leader the go-ahead to use local songs.
Sauti Sol’s Bien arrogantly responded to Kenyans who are criticizing the music group for threatening to sue Azimio la Umoja for copyright Infringement.
Bien insisted that Azimio infringed on their copyright for using their song.
However, lawyer Donald Kipkorir explained that copyright infringement is only applicable where the plaintiff can show the defendant derived financial benefits.
Loud claim by Sauti Sol of copyright infringement against Raila Odinga has no legal foundation. A claim for copyright infringement is only sustainable where the Plaintiff can show the Defendant derived financial benefit. There is no financial benefit in political rallies.

MCSK chairperson Ezekiel Mutua also confirmed that the body licensed Raila to use local songs during campaign.
This is a totally misleading and misguided statement by KECOBO. We licensed the Raila Odinga Presidential campaign using the existing tariffs gazetted by the Govt. Our members, including Sauti Sol, have assigned their rights to MCSK to administer copyright on their behalf. pic.twitter.com/Wl0hQbglhG

Some Kenyans felt Sauti Sol is just unfairly demonizing Raila in light of all evidence showing that he didn’t infringe on the copyright as claimed.
Some people have decided to unfollow Sauti Sol on social media and even unsubscribe from their YouTube channel.
The music group has lost as much as 2,000 subscribers on YouTube since Monday May 16th when they blasted Raila and Azimio.
