Churchill disappointed his father so much with his dismal performance in school that he thought he would amount to nothing in life.
The comedian didn’t imagine he would be a multimillionaire because growing up being successful in life meant one had to be an academic giant, which he wasn’t.
Churchill, who uses his alias ‘Mwalimu King’ang’i’ on Classic FM, opened up about his childhood while speaking on his radio show.
The comedian said he sat for Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examinations two times just to get a good grade to earn him a spot in high school.
Churchill said that his father was so disappointed with him when he got his KCPE results that he sent him off to his mother.
The Classic FM presenter noted that on the morning when KCPE results were out, his father ordered him out of his presence due to his disappointing results.
Churchill also disclosed that he was denied his favorite meals as punishment for failing in his KCPE exams. His parents also failed to get him a Christmas outfit when everyone else was getting one.
“During my time, KCPE results used to come during Christmas, when it is raining, everyone is happy, receiving new Christmas outfits. I was being sent out, I never got any new Christmas clads,” said Churchill.
He stressed that his parents had so much faith in him and they expected so much that they ended up getting disappointed when he failed to get the expected results in KCPE.
“I don’t get why he (his father) had so much hope in me. I think parents should stop having so much hope and faith in their children,” Churchill concluded.
