It’s a criminal offense in Kenya to deliberately infect another person with HIV, even so a handful of women have knowingly and recklessly transmitted the virus.
Section 24 of the HIV and AIDS Prevention and Control Act requires a person aware of being HIV-positive to take all reasonable measures and precautions to prevent the transmission of HIV to others and to inform, in advance, any sexual contact or persons with whom needles are shared of their HIV-positive status.
Subsection (2) prohibits knowingly and recklessly, placing another person at risk of becoming infected with HIV.
Contravention of these provisions is a criminal offence punishable by imprisonment for up to seven years, and/or a fine.
Under section 24(7), a medical practitioner who becomes aware of a patient’s HIV-status may inform anyone who has sexual contact with that patient of their HIV-status.
That said, below is a list of Kenyan women who deliberately infected unsuspecting men with HIV.
Jackline Njoki Mwangi
Jackline Njoki Mwangi alias Kiki wa Ng’endo first learned about being HIV+ when she was 19 years old while she was in Mombasa, she has been living with the virus for years.
She opted to be a prostitute to make ends meet. Mwangi allowed her clients to sleep with her without any protection saying it’s their prerogative to protect themselves.
Mwangi argued that she was also inflected with the virus by a man who didn’t care to protect her so she was also extending the courtesy to the men who slept with her without any protection.
“At the end of the day, Lynn na si kwa ubaya. You know you do not know me, am not related to you, you want to have sex with me, why don’t you wear a condom? And if not wearing a condom, ask me for a test if am comfortable, if am not comfortable, let’s wear a condom,” Jackline Njoki Mwangi said during an interview in 2020.
Mwangi who has since turned over a new leaf is very remorseful for what she has done, she’s sorry for the men she has infected with HIV/AIDS.
Harriet Vihenda Akunava
Sometimes in August 2020, Harriet Vihenda Akunava caused panic among men when she confessed to infecting several men with HIV.
Through her social media account, Akunava asked men who have been having sex escapades with her to get tested.
“It’s time I come clean. I was bitter for many months but I can’t do this anymore. I am HIV positive and I have been infecting men. I am sorry, forgive me. Get tested if I have hanyad you.” – Akunava wrote.
Ruth James Otieno
Sometimes in August 2021, Ruth James Otieno took to Facebook and announced she will name over 100 men she had slept with and infected with HIV.
“I want to expose everyone I have given HIV,” wrote Ruth James.
Her post got Facebook buzzing. Despite hundreds of comments on her post telling her to seek help, she went ahead to post names and photos of men she had slept with.
“Itugona. Chuo 100 mar facebook dwa thoo gi stress (You are joking with me. 100 men on Facebook are so much stressed up and will die soon),” she posted in her local dialect.
Verah
Sometimes in July 2014, a lady by the name Verah who said to be a student at University of Nairobi announced that she had slept and infected 25 men with HIV at the Masaku 7s event in Machakos.

My name is Verah and I am a UoN student, Last year I attended a Rugby event in Nakuru and was raped by 6 men. When I went to hospital to check my status, I was old I am HIV Positive.
This was one of the most trying moment of my life. I wanted to commit suicide but then I thought about it and decided to revenge . My target is to infect 1000 men before I die and my mission has already started. I hate men for raping me and whenever I see a Man, I look for all was to seduce him and most fall into my trap because I look beautiful and sexy…A woman any man would die for .
I went to Masaku sevens and if you attended and slept with me without protection, Below is our name. Seek further medical attention and welcome to the world of HIV/AIDS .

Kabarak University student
In March 2014, a female student at Kabarak University caused panic after she confessed to deliberately infecting 324 men with HIV virus.
She said she was on a mission to destroy the society by infecting 2000 more by the end of the year 2014.
The lady confessed that not a day passes before she has sex with at least four men and without protection.
Among the 324 she claims to have infected, 156 are students, 3 politicians and the rest are married men, lecturers, lawyers etc.

I’m 19 and a 2nd year student here at Kabarak University. I joined this college a virgin though I have had boyfriends before,my parents are strict so having sex was never on my mind.
Septmber 22nd, 2013, is a day I will never forget,we went clubbing in town and got drunk with some senior
students then went back hostels for party around 2am
I remember waking up naked to a guy called Javan with my private part painful and I realised he had sex with me when I was drunk. I only asked if he used a condom and he said yes.
However, when taking bathIi noticed sperms down there,i wanted to commit suicide,i feared getting pregnant and HIV, I took drug and hoped i was HIV free.
In November, I tested HIV positive,I felt like cutting off my neck. I confronted theguy and he insisted he was clean that I got it from somewhere.
I was so depressed and took alcohol to die. I even bought poison,the pain was just unbearable. How was I gonna face the world? I let my parents down. I gave up on the world and just wanted to end my life.
Something came up in my mind that I should revenge. I hated men and I didn’t want to be near anymore. My future had been ruined, somehow someone had to pay.
After a private therapy sessions, I gained strength not even my parents,friends knew of my conditions even up to now.
I accepted my fate and promised to make all men I come across suffer. i know I am attractive and both married and unmarried men chase me left, right and center, luckily, my body has remained good and if anything my curves got better something you men like.
I buried the good girl in me and became the bad girl. My goal was to infect as many as possible. So far, since December up to now, I have infected 324 men and I make sure to note down there list which I secretly keep. I plan to release it when I wiil be on my death bed.
I know I have nothing left to do on earth but to wait for my death but before i do, men will get it.
My target is over 2000 by the end of the year, pregnancy is out of question because I am on contraceptives. So I just do raw which most men here love. They don’t even question becauase my looks and body work greatly for me.
Out of the 324 I have infected so far, about 156 are students here at the college, the remaining are married men outside, lecturers,lawyers,some celebs and 3 politicians. Not a day passes without me having sex, mostly four people per day.
